Muddy Boots Hike - Grapeyard Ridge Trail
Hike Description: At 5.8 miles this hike is one of the longer Muddy Boots hikes, but we think you’ll find the hike to be well worth the effort. The trail begins at the confluence of Porter’s Creek, False Gap Prong and the Middle Prong of the Little Pigeon River. This is an out and back trail with several creek crossings of the rock hop variety. At about 2.9 miles into the hike we will come across the wreckage of a steam engine that was brought into the mountains in the 1920’s to saw wood for the Greenbrier School. On the return trip the driver misjudged the switchback and the engine fell down into Injun Creek. Length of Hike: 5.8 miles Rating: Moderate Departure: 8:00 a.m. Chota Center parking lot, across from the gas station Location/Distance/Drive Time: Near Gatlinburg, approximately 71 miles, 2 hours Muddy Boots Coordinators: Phil Brenner [email protected] 703-774-4778 generated by TellicoLife underWare EventGen_Beta_1.0 2018.12.05 11:21:56 Contact: Phil Brenner [email protected] (703-774-4778) and Kevin Fusco [email protected] (561-213-0449) |
