CADES COVE & HERITAGE CENTER TOUR & LUNCH

Cades Cove is one of the most popular spots in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Join other Tellico Villagers as we discover this gem in our own backyard!  Cades Cove is a beautiful 4000-acre isolated valley first settled by the Cherokee Indians and later settle by European settlers in the early 1800’s. Today the National Park Service maintain Cades Cove for history and cultural preservation of early Appalachian settlement way of life.The Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center is a private non-profit museum located in Townsend, Tennessee, United States, near the city's entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Its mission is to preserve the heritage and culture of the inhabitants of the Great Smoky Mountains, including both the region's Native American inhabitants and the pioneers and residents of the region's Appalachian communities.

MEET: We will meet at the Heritage Center, ¾ mile east of the traffic light at Hwy 321 and Hwy 73 intersection in Townsend.
TIME: Please be there by 9:45 am as the tour will leave promptly at 10:00. Allow a minimum of 1-1/2 hour travel time from Tellico Village.
COST: $35.00 includes transportation to Cades Cove, entrance to Museum, box lunch and driver tip. NO REFUNDS AFTER 5-1-18 LIMITED TO 36 PARTICIPANTS

PROGRAM: 

10:00:  departure to Cades Cove on shuttle buses.  Stops include: Primitive Baptist Church, visitor center and one other stop
12:30:  Lunch in Cades Cove at Visitor Center - Box lunch to be chosen when signing up: ham or turkey sandwich with homemade potato chips, homemade cookie and bottle of water.
 2:30:   arrive back at GSM Heritage Center
 2:30 – 4:00: docent led tour of GSM Heritage Center
