Muddy Boots Hike - Benton Falls Trail March 13, 2023

Join us as we explore the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.  Check out this 3.0-mile out-and-back trail near Reliance, Tennessee.  Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 1 hour 10 minutes to complete.  This is a very popular area for hiking, mountain biking, and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring.  You will experience a beautiful and unique 65 foot waterfall over an interesting tier of rocks.  The hike is mostly flat except for the descent to the falls.  The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime.  You'll need to leave pups at home, dogs aren't allowed on Muddy Boots hikes. 

Date/Time:  Monday, March 13, 2023 @ 7:45 am (Rain date March 20th)

Length of Hike:  Approximately 3 miles  Elevation Gain:  291 feet  Rating:  Easy Hike

Meeting Location:  We will meet at 7:45 am at 100 Chota Road across from the gas station.  There, we will give a quick rundown of the hike, restroom locations and provide driving directions.  Wheels roll at 8 am sharp.

Driving Distance/Drive Time:  62 miles, 1.5 hours

Be Prepared:  Bring water, trail snack, lunch.  Hiking poles and hiking boots are highly recommended. 

Hiking involves some exertion and often walking on uneven surfaces with rocks and roots.  While we do our best to describe any trail challenges and conditions, you are hiking at your own risk.

In the event of a situation requiring medical intervention during a hike, we suggest that each participant wear their Name Tag and bring a Photo ID (generally driver's license) and Medical Information Cards (Health Insurance Card or Medicare + Supplemental Health Insurance Cards)

Lunch:  No formal lunch is planned at this time.  You can either bring a lunch or we may find a restaurant on the way back to Tellico Village.
