Scopes Monkey TrialJoin us as we celebrate the history of what continues to be “The World’s Most Famous Court Trial.” The Scopes Trial was a famous American legal case in 1925 in which a high school teacher, John Scopes, was accused of violating Tennessee's Butler Act, which made it unlawful to teach human evolution in any state-funded school. The play is a unique re-enactment of the trial, presented in the famous courthouse where Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryan battled the case in 1925.
