Don't forget, we have hike scheduled at Fort Loudoun State Park for this Friday morning, August 14.
The pre-hike identified significant amounts of poison ivy along numerous portions of the trail. If poison ivy and you do not get along, this might not be the hike for you. For your consideration! Any additional questions, contact Bob Stewart at 865-224-1778.

We will continue with Covid-19 protocol for August hikes.

1. Social distancing of at least 6 feet is still in order on and off the trails.
2. We will not be setting up carpools. Each hiker should drive on their own or may go with another person that they know and feel comfortable with.
3. We will meet at Lakeside Realty parking lot for directions, take a vehicle count, but there is no need to get out of your vehicle and gather as we use to do.

TELLICO VILLAGE HIKING CLUB

 

FRIDAY, AUGUST 14, 2020

 

Depart at 8:00 a.m. from Lakeside Realty Parking Lot

 

FORT LOUDON STATE PARK

Distance: Approx. 4.5 miles

Rating: Easy

Driving Time: .5 hour

Elevation gain: Minimal

This is a loop hike following the lake shore with views of the lake and mountains. The planned hike will take in parts of three trails – blue, yellow and red for those familiar with the park. We will pass through the fort before ending back at the parking lot/picnic area. Although the hike will be completed before lunch time, folks who want to bring lunch may spread out at the numerous picnic tables in the picnic area. Otherwise bring a trail snack. For those interested in a longer hike may hike the loop again on their own. The visitor center should be open.

 

Please meet at Lakeside Realty parking lot at 8:00 a.m. or if you know where you are going, meet at the parking area near the picnic area at Ft. Loudon State Park at 8:30 a.m.
