“Proton therapy is one of the most advanced cancer treatment options in the world. It is a non-invasive treatment that uses a single beam of high-energy protons to precisely target many forms of cancers without damaging secondary tissue. This is the only facility in East Tennessee offering this protocol.”

Join us for a 1 ½ hour walking tour of the proton center which includes a complete walk-through of a patient experience,
as well as close-up viewing of the operation of massive equipment that makes the proton therapy work.
You will also learn the history of proton therapy that dates back to 1903.

NOTICE: We do have some restrictions on one section of the proton center tour that requires those individuals with pacemakers to be restricted from entering the cyclotron vault. They can view pictures of the cyclotron, but they may not enter the actual vault where the equipment is active.

We will meet:

• At 10:00 am in the parking lot behind the Welcome Center opposite the Marathon station in Tellico Village
• Plan to depart no later than 10:10 AM 
• Directions will be given to you at that time and we can carpool to the facility

If you wish to drive yourself and meet us at the Proton Therapy Facility (see address below), you are welcome to do so, but you must tell me in advance and you must arrive there by 10:45 AM.

• This is located at the Dowell Springs Medical Campus off of Middlebrook Pike.
• Once on the Dowell Springs Medical Campus, follow the street up the hill
• The Proton Center will be on your left.
