Hike Description:  This is an out and back trail with a round trip length of 4.2 miles winding through a mostly shaded hemlock forest with green walls of laurel and rhododendron.  There is one small creek crossing, easily made without getting your feet wet.  The trail culminates on the narrow, exposed ridge that separates the Obed River and Clear Creek River before their confluence.  Sections along the ridge allow for fantastic views on both sides.  Along this exposed ridge, if you look closely you might catch a glimpse of rock climbers in the distant sheer cliffs.  The most popular viewpoint is through the arch rock on the right side of the trail approaching the trail's terminus.  A couple of short, strenuous sections, but otherwise a moderate hike.  After the main hike, those who want can also do the 0.6 mile round trip Overlook Trail.  It's an easy hike to the high rock outcrop of Lilly Bluff with two large viewing decks where you will find sweeping views of the river gorge.  Definitely worth the short time and distance.

Directions:  Turn left onto Tellico Parkway.  Take the US-321 S ramp to Lenoir City/Knoxville.  Merge onto TN-95 N/US-321 for 15 miles. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for TN-58 S/Kingston.  Merge onto TN-58 S/Kingston.  Merge onto TN-58 S/Oak Ridge Turnpike.  Turn right onto TN-327 A/Blair Road.  Turn left onto TN-61 W for 4 miles.  Turn right onto Rock Bridge Road.  Turn right onto US-27 N for 12 miles.  Turn left onto N Kingston Street then turn right onto Eliza Street.  Turn left onto Maiden Street.  Take a quick right then left and you will arrive at the Obed National Wild and Scenic River Visitor Center.

Lunch:  After our hike, we will drive back through Wartburg and have lunch at the El Patron Mexican restaurant, 3668 Morgan County Highway, Wartburg. Arrival time will be at approximately 12:30-1:00 pm.
