TCP - Auditions for A Trip to Bountiful

A Trip to Bountiful tells the story of Carrie Watts, an elderly woman who longs to return to her beloved hometown of Bountiful, Texas, one last time. Carrie’s controlling son, Ludie, and demanding daughter-in-law, Jessie Mae, forbid her to leave. However, while her son and daughter-in-law are gone for the day, Carrie flees to the bus station where she meets a young woman named Thelma. Together, the new friends travel toward Bountiful together, but when Carrie arrives in nearby Harrison, Texas, she discovers her beloved town isn’t the same as she remembered it.

Auditions will be cold reads from the script.

Auditions for A Trip to Bountiful, directed by James Fisher will be held on

Thursday, July 15 (1-3 p.m.) Friday, July 16 (5-8 p.m.) Saturday, July 17 (2-4 p.m.)

at the Tellico Community Playhouse, 304 Lakeside Plaza, in Tellico Village, Loudon, Tennessee.

Production dates are Thursday - Saturday, October 7 - 9 and 14 - 16, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, October 10 and 17, at 1:30 PM.

The cast:

Carrie Watts (60-80 years) - mother of Ludie.  Yearning to return to her beloved life in her hometown of Bountiful, Texas.
Ludie Watts (40-60 years) - son of Carrie Watts.  Struggling to keep his mother and his wife happy.
Jessie Mae Watts (40-60 years) - wife of Ludie Watts.  A controlling woman who is a master manipulator!  Plays her husband against herself and his mother.
Thelma (20-50 years) - a bus rider who Carrie confides in about her hopes and dreams.  The two become temporary friends and share their history and futures.
Houston ticket agent (any age/sex) - sells tickets for the bus line.
Second ticket agent ( any age/sex) - sells tickets in second town.
Sheriff (any age) - rough at first, but is responsible for Carrie's eventual return to her home in Bountiful.  

 
Production dates are Thursday - Saturday, October 7 - 9 and 14 - 16, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, October 10 and 17, at 1:30 PM.
