The Calderwood Paddle is an easy 5 miles with lunch afterwards.

On July 29, we will meet at Sloan's Hardware Store at 7:50am and leave by 8:00am. We will be driving the Tail of the Dragon Highway 129 pass Deals Gap. Approximately 4 miles after Deals Gap and still on 129 below Cheowah Dam & before crossing the bridge, we will turn to the right onto River Road.

Launch will be at Magazine Branch boat ramp. This will be a short paddle of 5 miles or less it is an out and back.

We will load kayaks and head to Tapoco Lodge for lunch.

This is a very scenic river sitting in the mountains. The water is much cooler, with a great opportunity to see Eagles, River Otters and Beavers. There is an old train tunnel if the water isn’t too high we will be able to paddle through it.

Dee will hand out directions the morning of the paddle we will also regroup on Highway 72 off of 411 before getting onto 129.
